The most beautiful song I’ve ever heard. The most amazing show I’ve ever seen.
Those You’ve Known from Spring Awakening Music by Duncan Sheik
MORITZ
Those you’ve known
And lost, still walk behind you
All alone
They linger till they find you
Without them
The world grows dark around you
And nothing is the same until you know that they have found you
WENDLA
Those you’ve pained
May carry that still with them
All the same
They whisper: “All forgiven.”
Still your heart says
The shadows bring the starlight
And everything you’ve ever been is still there in the dark night
WENDLA
When the northern wind blows
The sorrows your heart holds
There are those who still know –
They’re still home
We’re still home
MORITZ (Sung In Counterpart)
Though you know
You’ve left them far behind
You walk on by yourself, and not with them –
Still you know
They will fill your heart and mind
When they say there’s a way through this
MELCHIOR, MORITZ AND WENDLA
Those you’ve known
And lost, still walk behind you
All alone
Their song still seems to find you
They call you
As if you knew their longing –
They whistle through the lonely wind, the long blue shadows falling
MELCHIOR
All alone
But still I hear their yearning
Through the dark, the moon, alone there, burning
The stars too
They tell of spring returning –
And summer with another wind that no one yet has known
(MORITZ and WENDLA Join with Counterparts)
They call me –
Through all things –
Night’s falling
But somehow I go on
You watch me
Just watch me –
I’m calling
From longing
WENDLA (Sung in Counterpart)
When the northern wind blows
The sorrows your heart’s known –
I believe…
MORITZ (Sung in Counterpart)
Still you known
There’s so much more to find –
Another dream, another love you’ll hold
Still you know
To trust your own true mind
On your way – you are not alone
There are those who still know
MELCHIOR (Sung Alone)
Now they’ll walk on my arm through the distant night
And I won’t let them stray from my heart
Through the wind, through the dark, through the winter light
I will read all their dreams to the stars
I’ll walk now with them
I’ll call on their names
I’ll see their thoughts are known
WENDLA
Not gone –
Not gone –
MELCHIOR
They walk with my heart –
And I’ll never let them go
I’ll never let them go
I’ll never let them go
You watch me
Just watch me
I’m calling
I’m calling –
And one day all will know
Looking out the door
I see the rain fall upon the funeral mourners
Parading in a wake of sad relations
As their shoes fill up with water
Maybe I’m too young
To keep good love from going wrong
But tonight, you’re on my mind so
You never know
Broken down and hungry for your love
With no way to feed it
Where are you tonight?
Child, you know how much I need it.
Too young to hold on
And too old to just break free and run
Sometimes a man gets carried away,
When he feels like he should be having his fun
Much too blind to see the damage he’s done
Sometimes a man must awake to find that, really,
He has no-one…
So I’ll wait for you… And I’ll burn
Will I ever see your sweet return?
Oh, will I ever learn?
Oh, Lover, you should’ve come over
Cause it’s not too late.
Lonely is the room the bed is made
The open window lets the rain in
Burning in the corner is the only one
Who dreams he had you with him
My body turns and yearns for a sleep
That won’t ever come
It’s never over,
My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder
It’s never over,
all my riches for her smiles when I slept so soft against her…
It’s never over,
All my blood for the sweetness of her laughter…
It’s never over,
She’s a tear that hangs inside my soul forever…
But maybe I’m just too young to keep good love
From going wrong
Oh… lover you should’ve come over…
Yes, and I feel too young to hold on
I’m much too old to break free and run
Too deaf, dumb, and blind
To see the damage I’ve done
Sweet lover, you should’ve come over
Oh, love, well I’ll wait for you
Lover, you should’ve come over
‘Cause it’s not too late.
There’s a harvest each Saturday night
At the bars filled with perfume and hitching a ride
A place you can stand for one night and get gone
It’s clear this conversation ain’t’ doing a thing
Cause these boys only listen to me when i sing
And i don’t feel like singing tonight
All the same songs
Here in these deep city lights
Girl could get lost tonight
I’m finding every reason to be gone
Nothing here to hold on to
Could i hold you?
The situation’s always the same
You got your wolves in their clothes whispering Hollywood’s name
Stealing gold from the silver they see
But it’s not me
Here in these deep city lights
Girl could get lost tonight
I’m finding every reason to be gone
There’s nothing here to hold on to
Could i hold you?
Calling out somebody save me i feel like i’m fading away
Am i gone?
Calling out somebody save me i feel like i’m fading
In these deep city lights
Girl could get lost tonight
I’m finding every reason to be gone
There’s nothing here to hold on to
Could i hold on to you?

From this day on I own my father’s gun
We dug his shallow grave beneath the sun
I laid his broken body down below the southern land
It wouldn’t do to bury him where any Yankee stands
I’ll take my horse and I’ll ride the northern plain
To wear the colour of the greys and join the fight again
I’ll not rest until I know the cause is fought and won
From this day on until I die I’ll wear my father’s gun
I’d like to know where the riverboat sails tonight
To New Orleans well that’s just fine alright
`Cause there’s fighting there and the company needs men
So slip us a rope and sail on round the bend
As soon as this is over we’ll go home
To plant the seeds of justice in our bones
To watch the children growing and see the women sewing
There’ll be laughter when the bells of freedom ring
Aimee Allen’s | A Little Happiness is a music concept shoot that I worked on last year. Title released to Best Buy in July. Music shoots have been on my mind a lot lately as I prep for a Fashion/Music promo run in Nashville over the next few months. There’s so much going on right now and so much to look forward to. :) This afternoon I get to sketch concept boards for Andrew Bean & the Lady Apollo, then transition into preconcept for Landon Keller’s video shoot which I’ve been asked to produce in correlation to the release of his sophomore album, Impact. Big things ahead on the fashion front as well…editorial spread, Eve’s Betrayal will be released on Thursday. :) Hoping to have time to write more soon, but until then… cheers to all and have a killer week! KT
For the road warriors of the world, drive time is one of the best opportunities to test out some new tunes. :) This past weekend, life took me to Nashville & back…total drive time = 10hrs.
A few highlights from the album log…Jer Gregg’s self-titled new release & Band of Horses, “Cease to Begin”. Together these two albums exemplify what I love best about a great travel playlist…Band of Horses when you want to lean back, smooth the grade, & watch the hills blur by… Jer Gregg’s powerful pipes to get the blood flowing…hyped & hungry for the home stretch.
